Primary Linings

We have the widest selection of proven materials for furnace
uppercases, floors, and throats. These include high-alumina DRI-VIBES®with
silicon carbide such as MINRO-AL®RAM A29, and silica formulations
including MINRO-SIL®RAM 1001 and DRI-VIBE® 432CU, a composition
designed specifically for copper alloys.
Our V-CAST®ultra
low-cement castables provide extremely low porosity, rapid dryout, and excellent
resistance to dross attack and mechanical abuse. Our compositions include high-alumina
with silicon carbide (V-CAST®426A), high alumina with magnesia for high temperature
alloys (V-CAST®69A), and mullite-based castables such as V-CAST®699A.
Our L-CAST®low-cement castables are also widely used. These offer low porosity and
rapid dryout. These are available in a wide variety of chemistries. LCF579A is a
bauxite-based castable with silicon carbide and burnout fibers for rapid dryout. LCF526A
has higher silicon carbide and fibers for more aggressive applications. L-CAST®469A is a
tabular alumina-based castable with magnesia for higher temperatures. All are widely used
for melting and holding applications.
We also supply wet ram compositions for uppercase and throat applications. MINRO-AL® RAM A32W, A33W, A34W, and A35W have been industry standards for many years. These are
either high alumina or high alumina plus silicon carbide formulations.

Inductors

We have proven DRI-VIBE®, V-CAST®, L-CAST®, and MINRO-AL®wet ram compositions
for all melting and holding applications. DRI-VIBE®formulations include traditional
brown fused alumina with silicon carbide products such as MINRO-AL®RAM A29 and A30.
DRI-VIBE®351A is a newer product containing brown fused alumina, fused silica, and
silicon carbide. DRI-VIBE®252A contains brown fused alumina, fused silica, and magnesia
and is designed for higher temperature applications. MINRO-SIL®RAM 1001 and DRI-VIBE® 432CU are silica-based alternatives for most copper and brass applications.
V-CAST®alternatives include V-CAST®426A, V-CAST®69A, and others. These products
were described above.
L-CAST®alternatives include LCF579A and L-CAST®469A. Both products are widely used
and provide consistent performance. These too are described above.
Wet rams have been used for years. These are generally rammed around a wood, burnout
form. They are available in both high alumina and high alumina plus silicon carbide
compositions.
MINRO-AL®PATCH 457A can be used as a castable topcap to DRI-VIBE®inductors. It
allows for trouble free mounting of the inductor to the furnace following inductor
refractory installation.

We offer many materials for channel furnace applications, including castables for
insulating backup linings, furnace covers, spouts, launders, and all other channel furnace
applications. Lightweight insulating castables, including MATRILITE 24 and MATRILITE
28, are suited for insulating backup linings. These can also be applied with a refractory
gun to minimize installation time.
MATRILITE 28, QUICK-CAST® 52, and L-CAST®679A are designed for cover
applications. They are insulating and have excellent thermal cycling characteristics.
V-CAST®large aggregate-impact resistant castables are used for receivers, spouts, and
launder impact areas. These products have significantly higher strength and better thermal
shock characteristics than non large aggregate castables.
Thermal shock resistant castables (V-CAST®699A, QUICK-CAST® 72) are commonly
used for a variety of other applications.

Foundry Floor

MATRICAST TUFFLOOR is used for foundry floor applications. This spall resistant,
high-strength castable can be installed quickly and placed in service after 36 hours of
air-drying. It will improve safety and reduce floor maintenance in areas subject to molten
metal splash, slag, and other intermittent high temperature exposures. |

We supply a complete line of hollow, cast copper-alloy loop forms. These are generally
made to order but can be shipped from inventory with a prior commitment. They are 100%
inspected, both visually and by X-ray. We also supply all other materials needed to
line your furnaces including insulating brick, hard brick, thermocouples, insulating
paper, mica, ceramic and stainless steel anchors, board, and anything else needed for your
furnace relines.
