Allied Mineral Products Inc. began supplying refractories to the aluminum melting industry after we purchased Matrix Refractories in 1992. When Matrix Refractories joined Allied it was a small manufacturer of monolithics for aluminum contact applications, but today, after extensive improvements in the product line, we manufacture and sell products that are unsurpassed in performance in most applications. Molten Metal Transfer Matrix Refractories Division designs and manufactures a complete line of refractories for our most demanding molten-metal transfer systems. These products include dense castables, such as QUICK CAST® and MATRIPUMP; MATRISIL fused-silica; MATRICAST 82 SiC silicon-carbide; zircon-containing MATRIFLO ZR5; and MATRILITE lightweight castable. If precast shapes are utilized, they can be backed up with our DRI-LITE® product line, which is designed for both insulation and molten-metal contact. Industrial Flooring for Molten Aluminum The TUFFLOOR family of products is for flooring that experiences rapid changes in temperature and frequent thermal cycling. TUFFLOOR products are designed to remain stable during intermittent contact with molten metal splash, slag, dross, molten metal transfer equipment and other harsh contact. Non-molten metal applications include furnace pits, flooring around forging and heating ovens. TUFFLOOR resists spalling when in intermittent contact with these high heat conditions. Our Application Engineering capabilities allow us to design flooring systems that will meet your requirements. TUFFLOOR is used by steel mills, foundries, brass mills, aluminum mills, forgers, heat treaters, and almost every other industry where high temperature thermal cycling is a problem.
